‘The Secret Daughter’ by Anne Gracie
3 Stars
I doddered on over to Regency Romance… Sometimes this gentle reader needs a change of book genre and Anne Gracie is one of my favorite go to historical romance authors.
The Secret Daughter is the fourth book in The Brides of Bellaire Gardens series and the tale of the fourth sister who finds her paramour. This is a fun yet predictable HEO (is that considered a spoiler?) with a few hidden twists which keeps the love story intriguing. Our heroine, a rescued orphan, believes she will never be worthy of love and our hero wants to escape all of his responsibilities. They meet while in disguise, their true identities hidden, to find their like minds make them yearn for each other. Although the fourth book in the series, this can also read well as a standalone (you will just lose some backstory on the side characters).
I always do enjoy a good swelling of the heart and The Secret Daughter did not disappoint.
